SWEET HEART SEMINAR 2007


The Sweetheart Seminar is once again a sweet deal.  The dates for SweetHeart 2007 are February 16 and
17, 2007.  Demonstrators  are  Barb Kapraun, Charlene Shafer, Trisha Shafer , Shawn Dolan, Amanda
Young and Pete Oswald

Barb Kapraun, Charlene Shafer and Trisha Shafer will be doing classes on knitting techniques.  They
have some new patterns and some really new and different techniques to show us.  Shawn Dolan will be
doing some classes on machine maintenance.  Amanda will be doing some embroidery classes for us.  
Pete will have the circular sock knitters there for you to question him about.        So plan on joining us for
the two day event.  

Dates and times:  
Set aside Friday, February 16, 2007, Registration starts at 9:00am. Classes are from  10:00am-4:30pm.  
Saturday, February 17, 2007 Registration starts at 8:00 am.  Classes are from  8:30am-3:00pm.  Don't
miss the fun, the camaraderie, the learning or the great time.

Location:
The Sweetheart Seminar will once again be held at Emmanuel Christian Center, 7777 University Ave NE,
Fridley, MN 55432.  Come to the West side door (#1).  You can use the elevator or stairway to take you to
the second floor.  We will have signs to direct you.  

Hotel:
Our host hotel is the Fairfield Inn, 8965 Springbrook Drive, Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55433.  The phone
number is 763-785-8922.  A room with 2 queen size beds, with a maximum of 4 people, includes
continental breakfast is $65.00.  Mention the Sweetheart Knitting Seminar and they will put you in the
block of rooms with everyone else.  These rooms will be held until January 15th as a block.  So call early.


Travel information for the seminar:
If you would like to come but aren't sure you want to drive the whole way alone, let me know.  We will do
everything possible to help hook you up with someone who can drive with you at least part of the way.  
Weather really isn't an issue. We have the best snow removal crews in the north.  If you  need a map
Mapquest on the Internet is very good or just use the Yahoo directions on the left hand side of this page.

Registration and class information :
Friday, February 16 doors open at 9:00 am. We'll have coffee and donut holes to help wake you up while
the demonstrators show you what they are going to teach.  Friday class times are 10:00 am and 11:00
am,  Lunch and fashion show will be held from 12:00pm to 1:30 pm (lunch is included in the seminar
package price).  Afternoon classes will be at 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm.  We will be done at 4:30pm on
Friday.  
Saturday, February 17, we will begin with registration at 8:00 am. Classes times are 8:30 am, 9:30 am,
10:30 am.  Lunch and fashion show will be from 11:30pm - 1:00pm.  Then two classes at 1:00pm and
2:00pm.  We'll send you home at 3:00pm

Wear Your Knits:
As we do every year we will have a wear your knits prize. We just have a small prize both Friday and
Saturday for every one who wears something that they have knit.  Doesn't matter how old the garment
is.  All are winners.

Two ( 2 ) Contests:  
Friday's contest this year will be an wearable + accessory contest.  You must knit a wearable item and an
accompanying accessory.  Example: You could knit a Jacket with a scarf or a hat with a purse.  

Saturday's contest will be a toy contest. Any toy will do.  

The item(s) must have been knit after the Sweetheart Seminar last year.  We will display contest items
from the time of entry until lunch on both days.  All entries will be shown at lunch on the day of their
contest. Each seminar participant will have one vote to cast for each contest. The votes will be counted
immediately, the winner will be announced and prizes awarded at that time.

Fashion shows:  
Friday at lunch we will have the traditional, informal Sweetheart Seminar Fashion show.  This is your time
to show what you have been knitting in the last year.  No item is too small or too "beginner".  Saturday
we will have those who weren't with us on Friday and those who enter the contest show us their stuff.  

Seminar Cost:
Cost $69.00 for both days if registration is postmarked by January 15, 2007.  $79.00 if postmarked after
January 15, 2007.  $40.00 for 1 day (either Friday or Saturday) if postmarked by January 15, 2007.  $50.00
if postmarked after January 15, 2007.  Cost includes, the neat place to have the seminar, donuts and
coffee, classes, fashion shows, lunch, door prizes, great friends and anything else mentioned above.  

If you haven't attended the Sweetheart seminar before:  
We are an informal,  inclusive group.  No need to have attained any special level of knitting. There is
something for beginners as well as experienced knitters.  If you don't know a lot of folks when you get
there,  you will know many by the time you leave.  We are there to enjoy our hobby, and have fun sharing
